Carnaval , is an annual celebration held in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The celebration lasts one week and it ends on the day before Ash Wednesday
At just 100 by 35 miles, Puerto Rico is a small island, the smallest of the
Greater Antilles that make up the northern bend of the Caribbean archipelago.
Despite its small size, Puerto Rico shelters an impressively diverse array of natural wonders, easily reachable – tropical rain forests, palm-shade beaches, caves and river canyons, bioluminescent lagoons, bird-rich dry scrub, and a central mountain range more than 4,000 feet high. This wonderful adventure gives you an opportunity to explore many of these natural wonders!
Day 1: Arrive into San Juan by 2pm. We will explore Old San Juan in the evening including a tour of a 500 year old fortress, San Cristóbal. Spend 2 nights in San Juan.
Day 2: Today we start the day with hike in El Yunque Rainforest, you will explore the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. and experience the best hiking on the island with cascading waterfalls and animal species found nowhere else in the world, it’s an experience like no other. Tonight we will kayak Fajardo Bioluminescent Bay and kayak among millions of dinoflagellates that light up like fireflies making this a truly unique and magical experience.
Day 3: Start the day with a ferry ride to Isla Culebra or Vieques in Eastern Puerto Rico to spend the day by the sea in some of the most beautiful beaches in the world with snorkeling options. This evening we will be driving to Ponce where we will stay for the next 3 nights.
Day 4: Morning hike in Guánica Dry Forest, this UNESCO biosphere is considered one of the largest and best-preserved tropical dry coastal forests in the world with over 700 plant species and the greatest number of bird species on the island habitat here.
